Mother’s Day 2008

Cindy on May 8th, 2008

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, and rather than waiting until the holiday to post about it, I thought I’d give you a few days advance notice!

Here are some gift ideas for the woman who gave you life!

Breakfast in Bed. Make Mom breakfast and give it to her in bed. Or order breakfast, pick it up, and take it to her if you can’t cook.
Day at the Spa. Treat her to a day of pampering.
Mother’s Jewelry. Get her jewelry with the birthstones of all the kids. :) It can be a necklace, bracelet, or a ring.
A poem, song, card, or photograph. Something from the heart, is all that matters here.
A hug, smile, and a thank you! Prehaps this is the best gift of all, because it is the most appreciated, and it is free!

And let me leave you with this video about Mothers.

What do you do to celebrate your mother? What are some of the best Mother’s Day gifts you have recieved?

  1. If the whole world were put into one scale, and my mother in the other, the whole world would kick the beam.

Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the wide world over.

Mother - that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries.

  2. Thank you for coming by; I appreciate the comments, and hope you enjoy the holiday!

  3. I have to admit the video isn’t what I expected :) I thought it was going to say something about how wonderful we are as mothers (this is my first mothers day as a mom, so I was kind of looking for the praise, hehe) but I think the message about nonviolence is nice. I’d love to hear more about how you found the group and what you think of their efforts.

The first Mother’s Day is the most precious. This is only my fourth, so I know what you mean. I really just found this video through youtube, and I thought it would be something a little different than what most people would expect, so that’s why I used it!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I let my Mom know I love her every day. It’s not always easy when it’s long distance.

  6. My mother will be taken out for lunch and tea, and I have some gardening items to give her.
Then I have some things planned for my wife as well.

I know what you mean. My mother in law lived in CA, and we live in NC. This is our first Mother’s Day without her, and we are having trouble with it. Contrary to the stereotype with Mother-in-laws, she was my best friend.

    Tim–

Excellent ideas! It’s always a hassle to plan for the mother and the wife, but they both appreciate it more than you’ll ever know!

  8. My wife had one request for Mother’s Day. Two hanging baskets out front. I must say that the infusion of colour and scents is lovely! Our daughter made a necklace for her at school and a painted vase at daycare. Add to those items a pedicure and she had a great day!
